"In God we trust!"

"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of LORD our God" (Psalm 20:7).

"Some trust" in that which is seen, putting their hope merely in the physical -- the stock market, jobs, health, humanity -- but we, who know the LORD, trust in Him who is unseen, and ever faithful to help in our time of need.

In an earlier year, in a personal writing, I wrote that "these are tumultuous times we live in today...."

If back then those were "tumultuous times," today, even more so.  Natural disasters, economic failures, wars and rumors of wars, famines...., are seemingly on the increase. "Oh, where is God in all this?" some may ask.

Let me assure you, God is where He has always been: on His throne and still in charge of it all.  We who personally know Him, through faith in the Lord Jesus, the Christ (Messiah), we know that He is in our lives caring for our every need.  That trust involves a turning away from our own desires and plans, and a turning to what God desires for us.

He has a "better idea" for our lives than what we can ever dream up for ourselves. He will never fail. In Him we are secure.  We need not be scared -- no need to fear of crashing stock markets, etc. He cares for us all, more than we'll ever know.  Those who put their trust in Him have a peace that the world cannot take away.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:18).

"One Nation?"

Before I had observed that first evening of the 2008 Democratic National Convention – the “DNC” – I heard their motto: “One Nation.”

That’s it, I thought with great concern. Now that’s scary – “One Nation” – not to mention it’s incomplete according to the vision of our Founding Fathers, who established our nation upon their faith and biblical standards. No matter what some may think, or what those revisionists are trying to do to our history, America was founded upon Christian principles. It’s a matter of fact and faith indeed that the whole world was founded upon the Word of God. It was He who brought it all into being in the first place by His spoken command, and it is He who will bring it all to an end in His time.

Yet, America has fallen, and continues falling, far from those standards set by our Fathers, fallen away from those biblical principles established long before the beginning of time. Apart from those standards set forth in the Bible, man’s deeds, thoughts, and words, are prone to be indecent, immoral, and evil. We need to return to those standards – the faith of our Founders. To be simply “One Nation” is a focus merely on humanity. It cannot be denied; there is a spiritual dimension to life, not merely the physical. Our focus therefore needs to be upon God – the Lord Jesus Christ. In Him alone is our hope, for all time and eternity. He is our Provider, and in Him only is our complete satisfaction and joy. Under God, then, and only then, we can truly be “one nation.”
